GC: Begin Your Feedback in Comments With Your Initials

This tip is another one I learned from Alice Keeler and I have found this one to be a game changer in providing conversational feedback to my students. Alice suggests using the private comments in Google Classroom to engage the students in dialogue in regards to their work. Students appreciate this type of conservation because it is immediate and as native to them as texting.

To maximize the engagement with the student and to easily tell to whom you have responded, simply start each comment to a student with your initials. You will be able to easily tell which students you still need to respond to because the last comment is shown under their name in the list of students on the left side. 

You can even provide bulk feedback when you return more than one assignment at a time. Just start with your initials and see how easy that makes it to track feedback.

One of my favorite tips is the ability to drag/drop an assignment in Google Classroom to change its topic. Life changer!

A partner tip with this was to create a topic called “Old Stuff” and move assignments there that are no longer in focus.  See animation below.
